Students can apply for a visa to study in the UK as long as they are aged 16 and over, have a place to study on a course offered by a licensed student sponsor, have enough money to fund the course and living expenses, can understand English (speaking, reading, and writing), and have the consent of their parents (if they’re younger than 18).
For students currently living outside the UK, the earliest you can apply for a UK international student visa is 6 months before the date your course is set to start, and you will typically receive a result within 3 weeks. The length of your visa will depend on your course. For degree-level studies, you should be able to live in the UK for up to 5 years. For anything below degree-level, you should be able to stay for up to 2 years in the UK.

If you want to travel to Europe to study while living in the UK and intend to stay for a maximum of 3 months, you may need to apply for a Schengen visa for international students in the UK, depending on your nationality.
To apply for a Schengen visa for international students in the UK, you will need to have 3 months remaining on your international student tier 4 visa from the day you are planning to leave the Schengen area to return to the UK.
