Abertay University in Dundee is Scotland’s Top Modern University. It prepares students for professional careers in the jobs and industries of the modern world.  Best known for computer games, Abertay also offers world-class degree courses ranging from biomedical, forensic, sports and food sciences, to accounting, engineering, artificial intelligence and business management.

Abertay launched the world’s first computer games degree in 1997 and is consistently ranked the number one university throughout Europe for computer games education (Princeton Review World Top 25 Games Universities). In fact, an Abertay student created Grand Theft Auto and the game originated in the city, a hub for Scotland’s booming games industry. As a small university, Abertay students find a more personal experience, with its size making it easier to make friends and spend time with lecturers. The city of Dundee also consistently appears in the UK’s top 10 lists for affordability. The city has sprung to international attention recently with the opening of the first V&A museum outside of London and awarding Dundee “the best place to live in Scotland” by the Sunday Times 2020 and the first UNESCO City of Design in the UK.

What their Students Say

“I really liked the fact that I got to meet, work with, and learn from people who are truly passionate and deeply knowledgeable about games and games development. Apart from the wonderful teaching staff, my classmates and I also got to hear from various industry professionals who frequently came to speak at the university. As someone coming from Malta, I also really liked living in Dundee. Scotland in general is absolutely beautiful and there is so much to explore.”
