About Keele University

With over 120 nationalities studying with Keele, international students are welcomed to our global community. With dedicated support, scholarships and preparatory courses, we’ll support you through your application, enrolment and beyond.

Our accommodation includes over 2,800 bedrooms on campus, all within a short walk of central teaching spaces, shops, and food and drink venues. We also guarantee on-campus accommodation for all September entry international students who apply by the deadline, with the option to live on campus for the duration of your course.

Located in the Staffordshire countryside, but within easy reach of the bustling town of Newcastle-under-Lyme and the city of Stoke-on-Trent, Keele offers the best of both worlds: a close-knit campus community and an exciting local area to explore. Discover a variety of restaurants, cafes, bars, shops and entertainment venues both locally and afar with Manchester and Birmingham less than an hour away on the train.

Keele University was established in 1949 by the former Vice-Chancellor of Oxford University. Founded to meet the needs of a changing world, Keele has always had a pioneering vision to be a different kind of university.

We excel in both teaching and research, with some of the most satisfied students in England, and research that is changing lives for the better at a regional, national and global level. Our portfolio spans undergraduate, postgraduate taught and postgraduate research. We also offer a foundation year with Keele University International College offering a suite of programmes to international students.

Our beautiful 600-acre campus combines green spaces with state-of-the-art facilities and is well-connected to the bright lights of major cities. As a Keele student, you’ll truly benefit from the best of both worlds.

Our thriving Students’ Union is consistently ranked highly in the National Student Survey and NUS Best Bar None Awards, and has played host to big names such as Ed Sheeran. Keele SU has been awarded for incorporating the UN Global Goals for Sustainable Development (Global Goals Teach In Students’ Union Winner 2021).

We are also one of the few universities in the UK to have a dedicated postgraduate Students’ Union. The Keele Postgraduate Association serves as a focal point for the social life and welfare needs of our postgraduate students. As well as conferences and networking opportunities, the KPA arranges social activities and events and has its own Clubhouse on campus.

What their Students Say

“My years at Keele were some of the best years of my life. I have extremely fond memories and, in that sense, Keele is my happy place. Keele is such a melting pot of different cultures and nations. I am still in touch with many friends from Keele, some of them now diplomats from their respective countries. Professionally, it has helped me immensely to have that network not to mention the wonderful friendships. So, I would say, make friends and stay networked, whichever course you do.”

“Keele was an experience I will never forget. From the gold teaching standard to the lifelong friends created, every bit of the journey extraordinary. I played Basketball for Keele on a scholarship and was the Lead Voice Representative for the Business School in 2021. Coming from Sri Lanka, most of my first year was spent in the SU networking and creating unforgettable experiences. I learned to balance work and entertainment to get the best possible grades I could. Keele gave me responsibilities that taught me valuable life skills such as independence, decision making, organisation and the importance of dedication and passion, all of which have helped me become the successful person I am today.”
