About University of Huddersfield

The University of Huddersfield is a multi-award-winning, modern university with world-class facilities in a multicultural and thriving town.

With more than 4,500 international students from over 110 countries on campus, Huddersfield’s culturally diverse student community brings in a global perspective, thereby enriching the university experience.

Huddersfield offers a comprehensive selection of undergraduate and postgraduate degree programmes, spanning a wide range of subject areas. It has dedicated a lot of time and resources in recent years to provide a superb quality of tuition, which is recognised at an international level.

Students learn from well-qualified experts who are at the forefront of their respective fields. The TEF Gold institution is home to the Business School of the Year 2023 (THE, 2023).

Huddersfield is among the top 20 universities in the UK for industry placements. Huddersfield’s postgraduate courses are closely linked to business and many of them are professionally accredited, which helps increase the employability of the university’s graduates.

Some courses provide students the opportunity to work directly with an organisation on real-world issues, thus allowing them the chance to get involved and gain unique insights that help them stand out in the job market.

96.8 percent of undergraduate students and 97.6 percent of postgraduate students from Huddersfield move on to further study or employment within 15 months of graduating (HESA, 2019).

The university also boasts world-leading applied research groups in most fields of study.

The university has invested significantly in campus development and offers state-of-the-art facilities including studios, specialist laboratories and performance spaces, in addition to the library, research facilities and quiet study spaces.

The University of Huddersfield is located in the centre of this West Yorkshire town, surrounded by stunning green countryside, with a historic canal running through the heart of campus and a wealth of impressive Victorian architecture and heritage.

Huddersfield is a well-connected and friendly town; it is more relaxed and affordable location than large cities in the region but has ease of access to cities like Leeds and Manchester. Huddersfield is perfect for international students to learn and flourish in.

The University of Huddersfield’s main Queensgate campus is a well-resourced student environment, offering everything needed for academic and personal success. The campus is home to the Huddersfield Students’ Union, which is a student-run organisation representing students and advising them on any issues and opportunities which may concern them during their course.

Working closely with the university, the HSU co-ordinates over 100 student-organised clubs, societies and sports teams. There are also over 60 Global Societies, which are funded by the International Office and organise events throughout the year.

Student Central is also home to student shops and cafes, including Starbucks, the international kitchen, the Student Advice and Support Centre, the International Office and their approved lettings agency.

What their Students Say

“I really love the location of Huddersfield as it’s in the middle of the UK, with good local transportation services. It is quick, easy and cheap to travel around the UK. Huddersfield is also relatively cheap to live in.

Huddersfield is a small place, but it is not a boring place, whenever there is a university event going on, the street is always full of students and I really like the vibe and atmosphere, I attended lots of different events. I really enjoy the social aspect of being a student at the University of Huddersfield. I enjoy hanging out with friends, as Huddersfield is quite small everyone is close by as are all the amenities. It saved me a lot of time and makes student life so much easier.

I’m part of the Malaysian society and I play basketball for the University which is great as I got to meet lots of friends, play competitive sport and it’s great for my social life.

My physiotherapy course is surpassing my expectations. All the teaching staff regularly approach international students like me to check if I can keep up with the course. They are very helpful, they would even arrange an extra session for us if we needed it. I’ve had the opportunity to work in a hospital here and I learnt some valuable skills that will help me in my future career.”
